We are looking for two new volunteer coordinators. This is for the 2008/2009 and 2009/2010 school years. You will be responsible for securing Chairpersons for the various school wide events and activities, as well as assist the Chairs in recruiting volunteers throughout the school year. You will find that we have great parents and are always willing to help out even in a crunch. We would like to secure two new VC's by the end of April. If you would like to become more involved in the school and bring some new ideas to the PTO/SIT Board, this is a great opportunity. We would especially like to invite any new kindergarten families to Douglass to consider joining the PTO. Now that your feet are wet and you have become more acquainted with the school, this is a great way to feel more a part of our awesome Douglass community. While Hilary and I will not be the official VC's we have offered to stay on until the end of September so that there is a smooth transition between ourselves and the new volunteer coordinators. Our students, faculty and staff at Douglass Elementary are all winners. The great success of the 2008 Douglass Elementary Auction will truly benefit everyone. Just over $60,000 profit was secured and directly deposited into the Douglass PTO accounts. Wow!

The success of “A Night at the Oscars” event is directly related to the dedication and support of an amazing core group of parent volunteers. Through every hurdle, this group of volunteers held tight to the mission and positively influenced the amazing results. Read on about our amazing volunteers.

The Douglass Book Exchange was a tremendous success - over 5,000 books changed ownership! Read a thank you from the amazing organizer of this event, Jo Shanks - great job Jo (and all of the many parents and students who helped).
