Linda McCarthy - 4th grade

(Last updated: August 2003)

How long have you been at Douglass?
6 years.

How long have you been teaching?
27 years.

What are your education credentials?
BA in Geology/Biology and MA in Elementary Education.

What do you most enjoy about teaching?:
What a feeling to go to work each morning knowing that you'll be greeted by a bunch of enthusiastic kids, helpful parents, and a great, supportive staff!

What are your favorite school memories?
A surprise picnic lunch that my 2003 fourth-grade class pulled off for teacher appreciation week. And reading a Civil War/"Life as a slave" paper in which a student described that the slave family ate bread and water during the week but had a special meal on Sunday, probably lasagna.

What's your favorite kids' book?
Bud, Not Buddy, by Christopher Paul Curtis.

What's your favorite thing to do outside of school?
I love hiking and camping, reading, and spending time on a tiny island in the mighty St. Lawrence River where I'll one day have a little cottage.

Will you tell us about your family and/or pets?
My family is small. I live in North Boulder with one housemate (Laura) and two sweet kitties (Ptoly and Clea).
