Bill Smith - 3rd Grade
(Last updated: April 2004)
How long have you been teaching?
I have been at Douglass for 11 years. This was my first
teaching job out of college.
What are your education credentials?
I have a Bachelor's Degree in English Literature, a teaching
license, and a Master's Degree in Diverse Learners.
What do you most enjoy about teaching?
I enjoy children so much it's hard to identify a single area
of enjoyment. I love how every day of teaching is different
and exciting. I love how children see the world and respond
to challenges. I love the friendships I've built with
students and parents. There's an old saying that the worst
day of fishing is better than the best day of work. I
believe that the worst day of teaching is better than the
best day of any other job.
What's your favorite thing to do outside of school?
My favorite thing to do outside of school is to spend time with my family.
My wife, Veronica, is the Automation Coordinator for Westminster Public Libraries
and teaches me all about computers and is the glue that holds us together.
My daughter, Katie, is a wonderful child and is currently a 6th grader at
Platt Middle School. My son, Brandon, is a 2nd grader in Ms. Nolte's class.
He loves to learn and reminds me of my father-in-law so much. My youngest,
Jared, is 2 and 1/2 and is a delight.
I'm doubly blessed. I have a job where I wake up every morning smiling and a family where I go to sleep every night smiling.
