- Our Favorite Snack Recipes - By Mrs. Cohen's 1st Grade and Mrs. Taht's 4th Grade Buddies -
Our classes meet once a week to do a variety of reading and writing projects together. For this project, 1st and 4th grade buddies
wrote up a procedure to make a favorite snack recipe. Next, each buddy group exchanged their written procedures, along with the
actual ingredients, with another buddy group, who then made the tasty treat. We had a great time while learning the importance
of well written instructions!

- El Museo de Las Americas Powerpoint - By Mrs. Cohen's 1st Grade - While learning about the culture of Mexico in Social Studies, first graders in Alisha Cohen's class went on a field trip to a small museum off of Sante Fe Drive in Denver known as, El Museo de Las Americas. The museum features local Chicano artwork as well as many artifacts from past and present day Mexico.
First graders, along with the help of our technology coordinator, Dawne Mangus, created a PowerPoint presentation about our field trip. Each student wrote, typed, and created their own artwork for the presentation. You will see that a lot of the slides are written with the purpose of teaching "All-About" something or "How-To" do something. This is because first graders are learning how to write a procedure or report information in Writer's Workshop. We are very proud of our hard work and we want to thank you for taking the time to read it!- Sample of Simile Poems - by Mrs. Barbeau's 2nd grade students
