Instructions And Tips For Setting Up Your Profile On Volunteer Builder
Thanks very much for wanting to register in Volunteer Builder. Volunteer Builder is a tool that will enable you to update your online directory information, and allow PTO, event chairs and teachers to more efficiently communicate with you throughout the year.
If you are at this page to enter data for the online directory, you are still in the right place. Although the title "Volunteer Builder" is slightly confusing in this case, we will be using this application as our central parent database, both for the directory and for volunteering. This means that you have one less place to update information when it changeds. Also, unlike previous years, you will be able to change your contact information yourself. Please allow about a week for updated information to show up in the online directory.
Volunteer Builder is simple to set up and easy to use. Please follow these steps to give us all the information we need.
- From your computer at home or at the school, log onto http://douglasselementary.ptomanager.com
- In the bottom right hand corner, click on the link under "New PTO Manager User?"
- Enter your email address and select a password as indicated on the page
- Complete Step 1 - Volunteer Information as completely as possible. This information will be used to create our paper and online Student Directories. If you do not complete this information then you will not be listed in the directories. If you do not have an email account, please contact the office. TIP - Each parent that is planning on volunteering will need to create their own profile. That means that each parent will need to set up their own email address and password, and complete Steps 1 - 3. This is also true for the directory - if both parents wish to list their individual phone numbers, addresses, and email addresses, then each parent will need to set up their own profile. If only one parent is volunteering or if you wish to list only one set of contact information and one email address in the directory, then you may set up the "Volunteer First Name" field using both parents' first names such as "Penny and Tom". Please use appropriate upper and lower cases. NOTE - the e-mails entered here will be used in the student directory, and for volunteer e-mail. To subscribe to the Douglass newsletter click here.
- Complete Step 2 - Volunteer Interests. This will allow the Volunteer Coordinators, Event Chairs, and teachers to identify what interests you have and match you accordingly to any needs at the school. While we would love to have you as a volunteer, if you are only updating information for the online directory you do not have to choose an interest(s). You can click on each interest and resource to get more information on that particular topic is any is available. Also, please complete the availability section as accurately as possible.
- Complete Step 3 - Students. Click on the box "New Student". Fill in student first name, last name, and birthday. The select the student's teacher from the drop down menu. Complete this for each child you have at Douglass.
- Congratulations! You have successfully registered on Volunteer Builder. All new registrants must first be approved to be in our database. Once approved you will receive an email letting you know that you can now log on using the email address and password you created to review/update your information, change your password, and see all the events we are planning for the year.
- In the Events Section, you will find a listing of all the events and activities we have scheduled for the year. If you are interested in helping out with any of these events or registering your child for any of the activities, such as Chess Club, please click on the Event Leader's email address and you will be able to send them an email directly from your email account. - Later on, as events get rolling you will be able to select tasks within the events that you are interested in and log your volunteer hours.
